New Articles/Interviews:
1. Natural Flavors:
What is considered a natural flavor? After receiving an email inquiry from one of our members, we have now added the Code of Federal Regulations defining natural flavors to our website.
2. Natural Parabens:

We are aware of the new research published by Dr Phillippa Darbre and the concern this may cause to consumers. The research does not find a causal link between underarm cosmetics containing parabens and breast cancer.
Parabens are preservatives that are used in cosmetics because of their excellent safety profile. They are very rarely used in deodorant and antiperspirant products because these products are, essentially, self-preserving. However, where parabens are used in cosmetic products they are declared in the ingredient listing by the name ‘paraben’.
3. Natural Preservatives
Author: Anthony Dweck of Dweck Data
This paper looks at the theoretical development of a natural preservative system using the author's data base on medicinal plants as a source of references. The legal aspects of this concept are considered.
The traditional methods of preservation, many taken from the food industry are summarized. The use of alcohol, glycerine, sugar, salt, desiccation, anydrous systems and temperature are amongst examples considered.
